Unique Manmade Design

One of the Wonders of the World today that is often visited by tourists is the Chichen-Itza, the Kulkulkan Pyramid which is located in the Peninsula of Yucatan, in the Yucatan State; Mexico.
Chichen Itza means “at the mouth of the well of Itza”. The Kulkulkan Pyramid in Chichen Itza which is known as “El Castillo” (the castle), is one of the new seven wonders of the world. This building was created with an exact mathematical design after making numerous calculations and measurements. Considered a wonder of the Mesoamerican technology, it is one of the highest and outstanding of all the Mayan architecture.

This was raised over the yucatican plain, it is a pyramid of nine staggered bodies, measuring 60 meters per side and 24 meters high. To each side there are stairs and temple in the superior part. Specialist and investigators of diverse disciplines have agreed that this pyramid is a representation of the mayan civil calendar. Each side has 91 steps, multiplied by the four sides giving the total of 364, plus one being the platform a total of 365 days of the solar year.
The most watch by the tourist who visits the place is the day Autumn Equinox, the featheredserpent return to the earth. “Kin” the sun return to be its ally to make it visible. The word equinox comes from euqus that means “equal' and nox “night”. It refers to those days of the year in which the days and nights are equal in duration. The equinoxial phenomenon of light ans shade is known as “the descent of the Kulkulkans”

When spring and autumn equinoxes takes place, Chichen Iotza is the scene of the surprising phenomenon called “of light and shade”. The position of the sun coincided with high accuracy with the steps of “El Castillo” of Kulkulcan to gradually project on the balustrade of the northeast, seven triangle, the silhoutte of the feathered serpent that measures about 34 meters long. The spectacular culminating movement of the phenomenon shows how the light arrives to the stone head of the god serpent on the ground where stairs begins.the feathered serpent begins to descend.

While the sun projects its myterious and extensive shade on the Northern stairs, each step is iluminated little by little, the process lasts nearly 5 hours, and its fullness is observed approximately for 45 minutes. The god serpent arrives and comes down and unfold his prolonged body in the human territory and once disappears as it has been happening twice a year for a hundred of years.
I believed that this pyramid was built for the purpose of their god serpent but today it is considered as the World's Wonder. Now it is of the place where Mexicans can be proud of.

Man's Artistic Design

Just thinking of the World's Wonder there were so many places that almost of us wish to visit. One of them is the “Hanging Gardens of Babylon”. This is a place were people from the Middle East are being proud of, that this place has become one of the World's Wonder.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon was located in the east bank of Euphrates, South of Baghdad in Iraq. King Hammurabi was the most famous of the Babylonian kingdom. Under his rule, the entire kingdom flourished. His son Nebuchadnezzar was the one who built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seventh Wonders of the world. Some stories have it that the Hanging Gardens went hundreds of feet into the air, but archaelogical explorations have proved it wrong. The gardens did not really hang on the roof using cvables or ropes. But derived this name from the fact that it was built on the roof top. According to the popular notion, Nebuchadnezzar built it to alliavate his wife's homesickness. He was married to Amyitis, daughter of the king Medes who seems to have had a passion for the mountainous surroundings. Babylon's flat desert-like landscape made her pine for the mountains of Media where she was brought up. So the king decided to build an artificial, terraced hill lushly cultivated with trees and flowering plants. However some attribute this wonder to the Assyrian Queen Semiramis.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon contained exotic plants and animals which were imported from all over the world.
Babylon during the reign of King Nebuchadnezzar had conquered and controlled virtually all of the then known world and he made use of these conquests in furnishing his garden with décor which made it become one of the seven wonders.

The Garden is quadrangular, and each side is four plethra long. It consists of arched vaults which are located on the checkered cube-like foundations. The ascent of the uppermost terrace-roofs is made by a stairway”.

The hanging Gardens has plants cultivated above ground level, and the roofs of the trees were embeded in an upper terrace rather than in the earth. The whole mass is supported on stone columns... streams of water emerging from elevated sources flow down sloping channels... These waters irrigate the whole garden saturating the roofs of plants and keepin the whole area moist. Hence the grass is permanently green and the leaves of trees grow firmly attached to supple branches. This is the work of art of royal luxury and its most striking feature is that the labor of cultivation is suspended above the heads of the spectators.

The king's real purpose is to alleviate his wife but then it became the World's Wonder in our present world. Man's being artistic didn't even notice that his work of arts may someday become great.

Greatest Handicraft of God's People

One of the World”s wonder is the Pyramid of Egypt. This also can be considered as one of the greatest handicraft during their times because I believe that when they constructed this there was not even a single machine use to aid people wit h the construction.

The Great Pyramid of  Giza (also called the Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza Necropolis bordering what is El Giza, egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain intact. It is believed that the Pyramid built as a tomb for fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Cheops and constructed over a 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC> the great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for ovewr 3,800 years. Originally the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface; what is seen today is th underlying core structure. Some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen  around the base. There have been varying scientific and alternative theories about the Great Pyramid”s Construction hypotheses are based on the idea that it was built by moving huge stone from a quarry and dragging and lifting them into place. The question who labored to build them, and why, has long been part of their fascination. Rooted firmly in the popular imagination is the idea that Pyramids were built by slaves serving the merciless pharaoh. It was believed that the Israelites “God's People” were the one who built that Great Pyramid when they became slaves of the Egyptians for a period of years.  Though it was built with a purpose but we can see that through the result of it's work we can feel what hardship these people felt and undergo when they built this.

Whatever it was, now we can see how it stands all over the World, made known to all people one of the World's Great Wonder which until now it is still consider. We can see the result the effect of the Greatest handicraft ever made but by the hands of  God's People. It's not for the purpose that someday it will become well-known but it so happened.

Now this Pyramid is still visited by people from different race and different walks of life just to see it's beauty and how it was wonderfully made.

Banaue Rice Terraces

Banaue Rice Terraces has been described as the eight wonder of the world. Carved out of hillside by Ifugao tribes people 2000 to 3000 years ago without the aid of machinery to provide level steps where the natives plant rice, and they are still in use today. It stretch like stepping stones to the sky-some reaching an altitude of 1500m (4920ft).

It is considered as one of mankind's greatest engineering feat. This terraces are fed by an ancient irrigation system from the rainforest's above the terraces. If the terraces were laid end to end, they would stretch half way around the world.

The Banaue Rice Terraces are part of the Rice Terraces of the Philippine Cordilleras, ancient sprawling man-made structures from 2,000 to 6,000 years old. They are found in the provinces of Kalinga, Apayao, Benguet, Mountain Province and Ifugao. Banaue rice terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The terraces are vastly found in the province of Ifugao and the Ifugao's have been its caretakers. Ifugao culture revolve around rice and the culture displays an elaborate array of rice culture feasts linked with agricultural rites from rice cultivation to rice consumption. Harvest season generally calls for thanksgiving feasts  while the concluding harvest rites tungo or tungul (the day of rest) entail a strict taboo of any agricultural work. Partaking of the bayah (rice beer), rice cakes, and betel nut  constitutes an indelible practice during the festivities and ritual activities.

The Ifugao people practice traditrional farming spending most of their labor at the terraces and forest lands while occasionally tending to root crop cultivation. The building of the terraces, work of blanketing walls with stones and earth which is designed to draw water from a main irrigation, stonework, earthwork and terrace maintenance. As their source of  life and art, the rice terraces have been sustained and shaped the lives of the community members.

This is one of the world's wonder crafted with hands. Their purpose of doing this is for their living and not knowing that someday it will be one of the world's wonder, visited upon by the tourist from different place around the world just to see its beauty.

One of the major appeal of Banaue rice terraces to the local and international tourist are the many hiking trails in the area. There are many young locals, mostly college students who serve as guides. But with or without guide, you will find the friendliness and warmth of the Ifugao people endearing.

World's Wonder

Some say that World's Wonder first begin in the Garden of Eden when GOD created the world. The first animals, plants, seas, mountains, rivers and even human being was put in that place. I agree with that, for me it was GOD who really made the first World's Wonder, and it was GOD who designed the first World's Wonder.

People were amazed of the beautiful spots that surround the earth or in this world where we live. Many amazing and fantastic places which are in this world that people wishes to visit. Whatever is it, and wherever it is, it maybe made by hands or created by GOD (nature) still we can consider them as the World's Wonder.

In different places around the world, different kinds of wonders amazed us. We can see its beauty, we can feel its terrific design and we are amazed how it came into order. When I look at them, what really comes in my mind is, who made this beautiful things which I behold right now, how did they made this, why did they made this, what did they use when they made this, and why is this place so enticing for the people to visit.

World's wonder that were made by human hands were also fascinating. This people were given knowledge, talents, and ideas by GOD. Maybe they just do this because it's their livelihood. Maybe they did it as a part of their job not knowing that someday it will become famous and will be considered as the world's wonder. Let's take for example the Pyramid of Egypt in Egypt and the Banaue Rice Terraces in the Philippines. They are made by human hands and they did this not knowing that it will became famous but in some different reason. They did not even think this to be one of the world's wonder.
